Sustainable Somers The Town came together to discuss Sustainability Priorities

Thank you very much for a very successful launch of our efforts to move Somers towards sustainability. I have no great allusions about the challenge that lies ahead and the length of the journey but thanks to you we have taken the first step. Herb Oringel

50 Residents of Somers attended the innaugural Sustainability Forum in Somers on December 7, 2011. We have collected a number of good ideas that will form the basis of our Sustainability Plan and will be vetted by having the community analyze and comment about the initiatives.

The Governor is awarding the Mid-Hudson $67 million to support 61 priority projects. Some of the innovative projects include: • More than $30 million will go toward the development of affordable housing and community revitalization throughout the region. • $4 million for the development of the New York Medical College’s Biotech Incubator Center for Advanced Research in Westchester County.
